Mark shaving his armpit - One of our regular features was Will Mark do it? when viewers could email in suggestions for interesting things Mark could do. One idea was for Mark to shave his armpit (strangely, a lot of the suggestions had a shaving theme!). Here are 4 screen captures of this momentous occasion:

What's under the robe? - Each night we had a different theme for our attire - hockey jerseys, super heroes, etc. On the 4th night of the competition, we both dressed in our bathrobes. We said that if we were in first or second place by the end of the night, I'd reveal what was under my robe. Sure enough, we were. So, with great fanfare, I stood, spun around in my best super model imitation, and removed my robe to reveal... shorts and a basketball shirt. Come on people - what were you expecting?

Me shaving Mark - So the shaving theme continued all the way to the final show. We had been saying since, I think, the first show that I would actually shave Mark on camera. Our original idea was that we'd have a friend of ours just show their arm on camera shaving Mark while I held up a razor to my web cam, thus making it appear (a la Sir Spanks-A-Lot's amazingly fast trips back and forth between Redwood City and Hayward) that I was shaving him. But, since we were both in the same room for the final show, I actually got to do it!

The pirated feed - For the final show, we came up with what we felt was a hilarious idea: to spoof Christine and Shawn. Lots of people had told us that I resembled Shawn (plus, he's also from Redwood City, interestingly), so I played the role of Shawn with my best deadpan look. We got a wig for Mark so he could play the role of Christine. Saying that we had managed to figure out a way to get a live feed of what Christine and Shawn were doing, we would cut away to the "live feed" now and then to reenact their "highlights." Jinx (one of the alternates) was our main spy as she im'ed us with what they were doing. Then all we had to do was spoof it. We spoofed Christine's overactive bladder, their cheesy romantic banter, and whatever else they were doing, all while Mark played with his hair and I did my best to look stoned.

We won - We made it to the final night by only about 30 votes. But once we squared off with Christine and Shawn, we were in fine form. Mark came over to my classroom. We got into our full Hawaiian attire - grass skirts, leis, flower headbands, and a shell bra for me and a coconut bra for Mark. Being together in the same room was perfect - much easier to communicate that way rather than via an IM window, plus we gave our viewers two camera angles for a lot of cool interactive stuff, like a tug-o-war, a boxing match, and the aforementioned shaving.
